Hey, I’m Mareike.

I founded 'The Eclectic Tomorrow' over a decade ago. Although Barcelona is my chosen home, I work with clients across Europe, mostly remotely. When I'm not coaching or mentoring, advising companies, and talking about leadership and high performance, you'll find me doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and functional training, trying new recipes in the kitchen, or out on a walk by the beach with Machete, my French Bulldog.

a bit more about me

My career began in Berlin, but my passion for growth and curiosity for culture and people took me to Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Madrid, and now Barcelona. Each city taught me something I couldn't have learned by staying, giving me a cultural fluency no book or course could. Leaving Germany almost 20 years ago not only shaped who I am today but also my professional focus: I became a certified life coach, a somatic coach, and a Chief Happiness Officer, continuously working in roles connected to people functions and leadership.

Somewhere along my journey, I also got hooked on human psychology. We're complex creatures. Yet our brains work in surprisingly simple, very structured ways once you start paying attention. That tension is what I find fascinating: how people can be unpredictable on the surface and so patterned underneath. Once I understood how that works, what motivates people, what depletes them, what makes them defensive, what makes them open up, a lot of what looks like dysfunction in companies and in leadership started to make sense. I'm not a psychologist, but I've spent years reading, studying, and working with humans, which has taught me to listen and ask about what's truly going on, not just what's being said.

How it connects to my work

This knowledge and these skills have been integrated into the work I do. On the team and culture side, I work with companies that want to build and nurture environments where people can do their best work. I've spent enough years inside companies to know the cost of the opposite. Unhealthy and sometimes even toxic environments don't only hurt the people in them. They destroy motivation, undermine productivity and performance, and ultimately burn out the team. So supporting my clients in building companies that outperform their old way of operating, year after year, is the work that matters a lot to me.

I also coach and mentor founders and senior leaders one-on-one. Working inside companies taught me how consequential leadership really is. How the people at the top show up shapes the team, the culture, the decisions, and ultimately the results of the company. The leaders I work with already take leadership seriously, so I offer them an outside perspective, thinking space, and the necessary structure to fast-track their learning curve and grow their leadership to a level their company needs.

If the work I do is what you’re looking for, let's meet.
