Let's talk a little bit about company cultures...

Our native culture, or the culture we're currently living in, influences us a lot. So, why would it be any different with the company culture that surrounds us at work?

Ultimately, we're social animals looking for connections, belonging, and a place to feel safe (to be ourselves, explore, make mistakes, and learn). So, let's remember that many of us spend around 40 hours per week working, whether in the office or from a remote location. That's a significant portion of our awake time, so spending this time in an environment that feels positive is vital. My question is: Does your company culture empower, support, include, and value all of your people?

Because if you want your people to do an outstanding job, the work environment must foster that, too. It's a challenging task, for sure, but if your business revenue and talent attraction/retention matter to you, then your company culture must, as well.

Company cultures are ever-evolving. And contrary to common belief, every company has a culture, may it be by default or, if you know the potential of it, by design. From experience, the best company cultures are cultivated intentionally with aspects such as the company's long-term goals, best behavior, and core values in mind. Upon that, other activities such as hiring, promotions, DEI, feedback, and going separate ways are built to create a cohesive culture everybody will enjoy.
